What does a Postpartum Doula do?

We provide emotional, physical and practical support in the postpartum period (emphasis on the first 12 weeks)

Postpartum doula services include;

  • Breastfeeding support

  • Bottle feeding support

  • Education on newborn care and normal newborn behavior

  • Non-Judgmental emotional support

  • Meal preparation

  • Light housekeeping (laundry, tidying, sweeping)

  • Care for baby so that parents can perform self care (nap, shower, eat)

  • Help siblings adjust to newborn

  • Knowledge of the signs and symptoms of postpartum anxiety, depression and psychosis

  • Link parents to resources in their community

Carina (YQL)

Carina is a dedicated, knowledgeable and caring person whose desire it to make the transition into parenthood a gentler one. Carina has two young boys and knows personally how difficult becoming pregnant, having a baby and then navigating your way through the postpartum journey can be. Her own experiences sparked her desire to learn more about the postpartum period of life and become a doula. Carina uses her background as a Registered Nurse and passion for promoting mental health to support parents in their journey. She provides them with the educational, physical and emotional support they need in order to succeed. Let Carina provide you with support that can make your postpartum journey a smoother one.

Currently in the process of becoming certified as a Postpartum Doula with DONA International.

Courtney (YYC)

Courtney is an empathetic, kind and gentle soul. She is a Mom of two and knows well the ups and downs of the postpartum phase of life. Compassion for others and a desire to help has always been at the root of her life choices. From volunteering, to working as a Registered Nurse, she shows her deep love for helping others in all areas of her life. She is passionate about supporting Moms in caring for themselves while they learn to nurture a newborn. She recognizes the intense emotional and physical changes that come with the arrival of a baby. Courtney is excited to be supporting and empowering parents as they navigate the postpartum experience. Let Courtney provide you with the practical and emotional support that can make the transition to parenthood a smoother one.
